Whole30 All-Purpose Sauce

Ingredients

Wet ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • ¼ cup apple butter
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

Dry ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne

Instructions

  • Add all wet ingredients to a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes (stirring frequently).
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl stir together all dry ingredients until very well-blended.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the saucepan with the wet ingredients. Continue to heat over medium heat until the sauce is smooth and well-blended (8 to 10 minutes).
  • Store in an airtight containter until ready to use. Use as a sauce for grilled meats, a dipping sauce for meats and veggies or a simmer sauce.

Notes

Keeps in fridge for 7 to 10 days.
Sauce can be frozen into smaller portions and defrosted as needed.
