It's that time of year again when the term "January Whole30" is buzzing around the health and wellness community like crazy! It seems like everyone I know is planning and prepping their meals for the first 30 days of the year and for good reason! If utilized correctly, the Whole30 program has the potential to change your life and your relationship with food forever!
What is Whole30?
For anyone not familiar with the Whole30 program, let me briefly catch you up to speed. For 30 days, you remove a number of food groups that are infamous for causing inflammation and making you not feel that great.
The list of ingredients you absolutley, positively cannot have for 30 days straight (no cheating!) is pretty extensive, but in short -you can't have any added sugars, alcohol, grains, soy, legumes or dairy.
After the initial 30 days, you reintroduce one food at a time back into your diet, carefully evaluating how your body reacts to each eliminated food.
Ideally, by completing a round of Whole30 and properly reintroducing foods you will have carefully crafted your perfect, personalized way of eating that makes you feel your absolute best! It's not always that simple, but that's what the program is intended to do.
So what can you eat on a round of Whole30?
Meat, fish, eggs, veggies, fruits and nuts galore. By focusing on all of the REAL foods you can eat, rather than dwell on what you can't, you'd be surprised how many amazing dishes you can create. Doing just that ignited a passion within me for creating Whole30 compliant dishes, which has been the driving force behind this blog.
I think it's safe to say I share that passion with many as there are thousands of Whole30 compliant dishes floating around the Internet, created by fellow Whole30ers who have had success with the program.
